I have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Brisbane Cricket Ground for so many years. My earliest memories are of coming down from Kingaroy with my family in the thirties. I was only a small child and “THE GABBA” and the city surrounding it seemed enormous. Later in the thirties and forties we watched hours of wonderful cricket after we had moved to Brisbane. My brother used to  spend time under the members stand gathering empty drink bottles to collect the refund—a great source of pocket money!  My mother always had a basket of wonderful food  which we shared with family friends and strangers. As we grew older the cordial in the vacuum flasks was replaced by wine. I look forward to more wonderful days spent watching cricket with family and friends.
